ringtone way too short

Trying to create a ringtone, but i just cant seem to cut the song small enough. 100kb is about 3 seconds of any song which is rediculous. Is there anyway to cut down the size any further?

that's not true, I've uploaded plenty of songs that go under 100kb for 15 seconds or more. Try using a smaller file to begin with, if you're using a huge, high-bitrate file, that's probably the issue.

Remember, this is going to be played out of crappy sidekick LX speakers... no need for high quality. Try lowering the bitrate and uploading again.

So can you change the bitrate after you have it in itunes or media player? If so, how? Thanks!
